What is a ‘little treat’?

A ‘little treat’ is indulging in a coffee or pastry, a walk in nature – seen as a self-care practice which is a reward and an emotional ‘pick me up.’ An everyday delight that adds sweetness to life.

How does this tie into the whole Colour of the Year conversation?

The feeling that using this colour evokes is similar to having a “little treat.”

As a response to a world which empties and shakes us every day, ‘little treats’ are necessary to reboot our spiritual and physical well-being.

Mocha Mousse speaks to the world’s emotional and practical needs. It is grounding and calming, with the special coziness that the brown shades bring.

The colour reminds me of whipped chocolate – offering instant comfort and pleasure.

How to use this warm neutral?

Start by regarding it as a neutral, not as an accent. It does very well as a foundation for other shades. Because it is both tranquil and comforting it lends itself to the themes of quiet luxury and natural (biophilic) décor.

Mocha Mousse (PANTONE 17-1230) teamed with cream and soft white is absolutely classic. Balancing the clean aesthetic of cream of white with Mocha Mousse, results in a tranquil, elegant space

Mocha Mousse teamed with shades of blue is surprisingly successful. Powder blue, dusty blue and other shades of blue add a lovely calming contrast, resulting in a laid-back stylish feel.

Mocha Mousse teamed with shades of green is effortlessly sophisticated. Olive or sage green will complement the warmth of Mocha Mousse, and is the perfect balance of cozy and cool.

Where do I start using Mocha Mousse?

I would start by using the colour as an upholstery basic. Not maybe for all the pieces of furniture, but as a covering for an easy chair, or an ottoman.

Using a textured fabric, like velvet or corduroy will add to the allure of the colour and highlight its luxury.

If that is too much of a commitment, incorporate a throw, or soft blanket to your bedroom or sitting room décor.

Bathrooms can benefit from fluffy towels or a bath mat in Mocha Mousse.

Mocha Mousse promises to bring balance and sophistication with a wonderful cozy feel – truly an inspiration to move towards more restful, calming décor scheme.

You might find yourself addicted to this ‘little treat’!
